Ebey Reviews
Ebey - Spending time on the internet,
like I probably do too much, I never got
interested in Ebay.com. However, the story has changed in the last
month, and I
am finding it a great way to sell things that I don't need or want
anymore.
My first attempt at using ebay was selling a
framed print. I never had liked it, nor the frame, so I got my digital
camera out and took a few pictures of it. I felt it was worth at
least $75 so put a reserve on it for that amount. A reserve is when
you will not accept less than that amount. Well, the highest bid
was $26, and I still have the picture. That experience taught me
that it is better, in most situations, not to put a reserve on an
item. I would have been happier with the $26 than the picture still
in my closet. That was a good lesson learned.
A few days later I decided to get rid of my
old computer monitor and two Dish Network satellite receivers. The
monitor didn't even have a bid on it, but the receivers I got $150,
and they were the older version, and of course the buyer pays the
shipping.
Now I am getting excited about ebay, so I sold
a printer that I didn't need. Remember, I replace them when the
cartridge is empty and with the rebates available, the $21.50 that
I got for the printer made it basically cost me nothing. The buyer
was happy, sent me a money order, and I sent it on to the person
he bought it for.
At this point I have been looking around my
house for those dust collectors that I have no place for, and found
three brand new Murano glass figurines. Two have already sold, and
one the auction has not closed.
Right now I have two more printers that are
being bid on, and frankly it is fun. Like I said in my title, it
is like a big garage sale.
Ebay required you to register and give them
a credit card. They don't do this for free. However, the prices
are really reasonable. The last printer that I just listed with
no reserve cost me a total of $1.40 to list it. That included a
larger picture. The smaller ones are included. I have found that
the extra $1.00 is well worth it, as more people seem to want to
get a better view.
Once an item has sold there is a fee that is
on a sliding scale:
$25.00 or less 5.0% of final sale price
$25.01 to $1,000.00, $1.25, plus 2.5% of final
sale price over $25.00
$1,000.01 or more $25.63, plus 1.25% of final
sale price over $1,000.00
If you are a buyer, there is everything that
you could imagine. I saw a listing for 5,000 pieces of children's
clothing still with tags on them for $500. People even try and sell
their houses, and I have enjoyed looking at the artwork. So far,
I am only a seller.
My items have cost me very little to sell, and
I have enjoyed every minute of my on-line garage sale.
You seriously might want to try it! It's fun!
