Priceline.com Reviews
Since 1964 Performance Products®
has been the premiere automotive
parts and accessories Catalog Company. Their goal is to provide
the Best Quality Parts and Accessories at the Best Price
--- Guaranteed!
Performance Products takes great pride in their
historyand love
telling their story. In the early 60's a "lonely" Maytag®
repairman named Dick Lovell, spent his spare time fixing and
racing Porsche® cars. He searched the globe for the best parts,
and tested them on his Porsche®. Dick soon found he was
buying and selling these parts to other Porsche® enthusiasts
at the track.
In 1964, Dick realized he was onto something
and published his
first "catalog" using the name Performance Products®.
This
marked the official beginning of their company. The catalog was
a simple 12-page insert enclosed in a loose-leaf binder. It was
really just a pricing sheet --- black and white with no pictures
and very little illustration. The name Performance Products®
was chosen to leave open the possibility of branching off into
products for other makes and models --- both domestic and foreign.
Shortly thereafter Performance Products producedtheir
first "real"
catalog and called it "#3" to make it sound like the business
was
a little older than it actually was. They operated on a shoestring
budget and cut costs by keeping the size of catalogs #3 and #4 down
to 5" x 8 ½". The size of the catalog seemed to
make sense because
it could be stored in a Porsche® glove compartment along with
the owner's manual. This strategy soon gave way to customer
requests for copies of their non-existent "full size"
catalog.
As a result, the next catalog was increased to a standard 8 ½"
x 11" size and remains that size today.
For the next 20 years They concentrated their
efforts on the car
that was their first love, Porsche®. Over the years we matured
into the #1 Catalog Company that sold parts, tools and
accessories for Porsche® cars. In 1984 Dick decided to cross
the checkered flag for the last time and sold the company to Mel
Kay and Rich Vizvary.
